This policy explains what Call Screener, operated by Formwork Security, LLC ("we" or "us"), collects, why, and what choices you have. It covers our users and the people who call them.
The short version
- We keep transcripts of the assistant's screening conversations and use them to run and improve the Service. That includes training AI models on those conversations after taking steps to remove identifiers.
- We record voicemails only to deliver them to you. We do not use voicemails or messages that callers leave to train AI models or improve the Service.
- We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
- We do not create voiceprints or identify anyone by their voice.
- You can ask us to delete your data, as section 6 describes.
1. What we collect
From users
- Account details: name, phone number, email address, and mobile carrier.
- Settings: your greeting name, screening strictness, allow and block lists, expected-caller keywords, and any contacts you upload.
- Call records: for each screened call, the caller's number, the time and length, a transcript of the caller's conversation with the assistant, the decision and its reason, and any message left.
- Device and usage data: notification tokens, IP address, and basic logs.
From callers
- The caller's phone number and the network information carriers send with a call.
- What the caller says to the assistant. Audio of the conversation with the assistant is processed to create a transcript, and our systems are designed to keep the transcript, not the audio.
- Voicemail. If a caller leaves a voicemail, we record it only to deliver it to the user. We keep the recording, a transcript, and a short summary with the call record, and we may email the recording to the user.
- Information about the calling number from lookup services, such as line type and carrier.
The Service is designed to stop processing a call once it is connected to the user.
2. How we use it
- To answer and screen calls, decide what to do with them, and notify the user.
- To detect spam, fraud, and abuse. A number identified as spam for one user may be used to protect other users.
- To provide support.
- To keep the Service reliable and secure.
- To comply with the law.
We also use screening records to improve the Service. A screening record is the transcript of the caller's opening exchange with the assistant, the screening decision, and your feedback on it. Improving the Service includes developing, testing, and training the AI and machine-learning models that screen calls. Before a transcript is used for training, we take steps to remove names, phone numbers, and other identifiers. We do not use voicemails, messages that callers leave with the assistant, or anything said after a call is connected to you to train AI models or improve the Service. We use them only to deliver them to you.
3. Who we share it with
We share personal information in these situations:
- Service providers that process data for us: telephony, call recording, and speech processing (Twilio and its speech and voice partners, including ElevenLabs), voicemail transcription (Deepgram), AI language processing (Anthropic), hosting (Fly.io), email delivery (Resend), and push notifications (Apple, Google, and Mozilla). Some providers keep the data they process for periods they set, and may use it under their own terms, including to operate and improve their services. We do not have zero-retention agreements with every provider.
- The user. A user sees the number, transcript, message, and voicemail recording for calls to their own line.
- Legal requests. We disclose information when the law requires it or to protect the safety and rights of people or the Service.
- Business transfers. If the business is sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
4. How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy. Those include providing and improving the Service, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations. Training data may be kept after the related call records are deleted. Our providers keep data for the periods they set.
When you close your account, we delete or de-identify your account data and call records within a reasonable time, unless we need to keep them for the purposes above. Data already sent to providers is deleted on their schedules, which we do not control.
5. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, and we limit access to call content to people who need it to run, support, or improve the Service. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee security. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
6. Your choices and rights
- Request access, correction, or deletion. Email legal@formworksecurity.com. We will respond as the law requires. Deletion does not reach models already trained or data that has had identifiers removed.
- Delete your call history at any time in the app's Settings.
- Delete your account at any time in the app's Settings, or by emailing us. This deletes your call records and voicemail recordings, including the copies held by our telephony provider.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law.
7. Children
The Service is for adults. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account.
8. Where data is processed
The Service is offered in the United States. Data is processed in the United States and may be processed in other countries where our providers operate.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here, and the date at the top shows the latest version.
